Are you an excellent copywriter? Have you written landing pages for best-selling products?
If so you'll probably laugh at $100, but that's my offer. That, plus a FREE copy of the Affiliate Mashup Store (RRP $199) and a JV affiliate link netting you another $100 per sale of the product (normal affiliate rate will be $50 per sale).
So here's the deal: I need a killer landing page for
http://affiliatemashupstore.comI'm quite capable or writing outrageous hype for crappy ebooks and I've made plenty of money doing so - but this isn't a crappy ebook, it's a premium quality (yeah, in my opinion...) software product for use in a legitimate online business. The sales pitch needs elements of subtlety and professionalism as well as the usual 'you really need this...' prose.
So if you think you're up to the task here are the rules:
1) Closing Date: Friday 28th March. We'll say Midnight EST, so I'll announce the winner on Saturday. Feel free to submit as early as you want though, and if you've already submitted you can still revise and resubmit until the closing date. Also, feel free to submit more than one entry.
2) Format: Go as far as you like - full html with images and smooth jazz is great, but pure text (with markup like bold, headings etc.) is equally acceptable. It's possible I'll favour full html designs over plain text but ONLY if the prose is also up to scratch - do not use fancy graphics as a substitute for poor copy.
3) Show me your other work. This isn't necessary, but here's the thing: If I knew how a great landing page worked I'd probably be able to do one myself. I'd like to think I can recognise quality when I see it, but if you have previous examples of your work which have produced great sales then it might help me compare the quality of the entries.
4) Please ask me questions. You can see the existing landing page, which should give you all the data relevant to the actual product that you need. But if there's any info you need then simply ask me for it. If you have something you want to submit but aren't sure about it, show me it (early) and ask for feedback. I'm not doing this just to hand out a prize, I'm doing it to improve the sales of my product, so if I can help you make your entry better I will.
5) Final judgment is mine, no appeals. If I use your entry on my page then the prize is yours, paid to your nominated Paypal account. If you lose then tough luck you get nothing, but if I liked your entry there's a good chance I'll offer you work in the future.
...No wait, scratch that. Two runners up will get the $100/sale JV deal. You'll get a special affiliate link that nets you $100 for every customer you send to me who buys the product. That's double the normal affiliate rate.
6) Send all entries and correspondence about this competition to
mashupcomp@mail.hugepedlar.com - you can submit your entries in whatever form you see fit; zipped html files, text files, upload them to your own server and show me the url... whatever.
I might well add more requirements to this thread if I think of them, so pay attention.
(P.S. Obviously the mashup store isn't for sale yet so there's no 'buy now' button on the current sales page, just an opt-in. Once I've chosen a winning landing page then it'll be launched, so for your designs just assume it's already on the market.)
