PPC Suicide – Part 1

gun-to-headHello everyone, it’s been a while since I last made post and I decided that it was time for another one. Today I’m not really focusing on any specific strategy or methods but this won’t be a waste of your time. If you haven’t heard about our Free PPC Mentoring here at the CashTactics blog, you best check it out now, its completely FREE and there is a good group in there that are not only actively involved but they are doing well. So don’t be left behind.

What I am about to tell you is something that one of my paid mentors and I were discussing earlier today. And many of the affiliates inside of our free ppc mentoring forum have had an issue with understanding this particular item, so I figured I’d lay it out in plain terms for everyone. One of the most overlooked pieces of the pie that new affiliates miss and just don’t seem to understand. And all of you affiliates (yes there were a lot of you!) that have instant messaged me on AIM and have asked why this or that hasn’t worked for you, 9 times out of 10 it was because your landing page click through rate was so low. Let me describe it in much more detail below for a visual. If you are spending $100/day on a campaign at $1 per click, which means you are sending/buying 100 clicks of traffic per day. Let’s just say that you are promoting a $30 payout offer. When you launch a campaign, despite what your ad ctr is, number of keywords you have, what your quality score is, or how much you are spending on PPC traffic. If you don’t have a good LANDING PAGE CLICK THROUGH RATE you are just taking a lighter and catching each and every dollar you have on fire and then you wonder “why didn’t I make any money? I thought I’d get atleast 1 or 2 conversions”. Let’s say you are sending 100 clicks to your landing page but if you landing page is only getting a 20% click through rate, that means only 20 clicks/visitors/potential conversions, are getting to see the actual offer and are tempted to purchase or fill out the form. So the other 80 clicks you spent are literally (in a sense) jumping off a cliff and taking your money with them. So then after you have spend $500 over 5 days and only made $120 back in commission, you automatically assume that niche/campaign is too saturated or just isn’t a profitable niche. That’s ok, keep thinking like that while I keep banking on your errors! Another reminder, if you are bidding on 100 keywords only a small percentage, like 10% will have a good conversion rate, the others will such miserably. So once you have a landing page click through rate of 50% or more (atleast!) and you can actually test the keywords you are bidding on accurately, remove the bad keywords and keep the good keywords. That’s when you see profits! It’s not a super simple process but it’s something you need to understand so that you can stop wasting your money and my time!

Here is how you can improve your landing pages click through rates:

Affiliate From UBD!

If you have been one to make the rounds to the different marketing blogs then you will have no doubt seen that Unique Blog Designs has been hard at work for other bloggers. Today (March 17th) UBD has launched an affiliate marketing product for WordPress that will blow your mind!

This product is for Affiliate Marketers and more specifically for those affiliate marketers that like to use wordpress for LPs and Review style LPs. Take a look at their promo video:

Is that not the koolest WordPress tool you have ever seen! Now don’t get me wrong… This isn’t for those affiliates that can make their own pages and designs. If you can do it on your own then I suggest you do it on your own. But everyday I get asked from affiliates who they can out source design and coding too. A lot of the readers here are new to affiliate marketing and don’t know how to layout div tags or even basic HTML. This tool will solve that problem.

Here is a screen shot of my favorite part of this tool:

affiliatethemes Do you see that? You have complete control over the layout! Complete control over how your review site will look!

Now if you ask me I would suggest getting the middle package. That way you have a license to use this on multiple domains. If however, you aren’t comfortable messing with html and designs then go with the largest package. There are over 30+ designs filled with a whole slew of layouts for review style landing pages. The only thing you have to do is configure the look by selecting drop down boxes and then add your content!

This product just amazes me. I have this running on several campaigns I have running right now. I set it up initially to see how quickly it would take to implement a design. I normally use Dreamweaver, but this has eliminated the NEED to use Dreamweaver for most of my LPs.

Inside of the members area you will find 20+ vids on how to work this system. You will also find some podcasts from other Internet/Affiliate marketers such as Jonathan Volk, Jim Kukral, Yaro Starks, and even Spiderman. This tool is revolutionizing the way that we as affiliate marketers use WordPress to manage our PPC campaigns!

Enough of my blabbing about the product. You really need to jump over to their website and check it out! If you are truely serious about creating a PPC business then this is hands down a product you need in your arsenal! I am only promoting this because it really is a gem to have for those that want a quick and easy way to create LPs. You really need to jump over to their website and read about all of the features this product provides! They even have several examples set up for you to view. If anything, look at the examples so you can get a better idea of what truly great review site should look like!

C2M’s BOLD move and my thoughts on it.

If you are out the the CPA sphere then this really won’t matter to you. Recently (yesterday March 2nd) C2M announced some major updates to the way that they will be running their business. Because of this, I was flooded with questions from about 20 different C2M pubs and other bloggers. Why they sent me their questions is beyond me. Maybe it is because Ruck and I are good friends. Anyways, here are my thoughts on the situation.

GOOD FOR C2M. That’s business people… Get over it.

If you haven’t heard about the announcement you can see it on C2M’s forum by Clicking Here. One of the biggest complaints and concerns that people are having is in regards to the now 2% referral commission.

Previously C2M had 5% referral commission. By lowering this commission they have added a rewards program. Now this rewards program only gives back 1% of what the pub makes. So lets do the math (cause some people don’t know how to do this properly). 1% commission goes back to pub if bench marks are met. 2% goes to referrer. That leave 2% (or a little more) going into C2M.

Now, this I’m okay with. And let me tell you why. I would venture to say I am C2Ms biggest referrer. I have around 200 people signed up under me. January was a HUGE month with everyone pushing Acai Berry and starting up those Grant offers. So was I sad when C2M made this announcement? No… not really. Infact I was happy for them. You guys have to remember, this is a business. We are all here to run a business. If you base your income off of one source then you are going to be sorry when that source dries up.

Now if you base your income off of your referrals for any network then you just suck as a person. Those people are giving up 5% of their money to be signed up under you. You should be greatful that they took the time to join under you to begin with! You should be sending them a reward for the money they are earning you. Jasper from Nerdy Affiliate just got a MacBook Pro sent to him for the volume he is pushing with C2M. That was my way of saying thank you. I don’t need his commissions. I don’t need your commissions. I don’t base my Internet income on what you guys are making. That is too unreliable for me. I need to know that what I do will make me money. I can’t be worried about what you guys are doing. If I was… I would become an affiliate manager.

Now… I got asked a lot about whether or not I knew about the drop in referral commissions because the free PPC mentoring (my reward to people signed up under me) is now going to MarketLeverage instead of Convert2Media. Yes I did know about this. But that has nothing to do with why we moved to ML. We moved for the simple fact that we overloaded the C2M guys with work. They are a small team. Our choice to move to ML was based solely on the fact that we like ML and we made C2M busier than they already were. Ruck called me up and asked me flat out to back off on the referrals for a bit. That is the sole reason why we moved over. When C2M is ready I will be more than happy to move back to them on the referrals for the PPC program.
