Its great that you are creating awareness amongst other immature newbies. Its hard to be brutal since people like to be pampered and comforted for what they have lost. But people wake up!!! Its cause of your setbacks that you stand where you stand. Take responsibility and rub away any left over tears... Go learn what you have to know and update yourself on what's new. We should be grateful of people like Ruck that provide their support we can't ask much from him and he is right in his article that 'he won't teach you what Adwords are'. That's your responsibility to get access to it and be grateful that he has provided this information. We are so dependent upon rubbing each others backs that we have become lazy... I wouldn't be surprised that in the coming years people will look for fast tracks to these blog sites too... Since to some it seems a waste of time and straining the eyes to browse down them.

Once you get a campaign rolling in search and then search network then your next stop is the content network because clicks can be cheap.

As far as my experience is concerned you need to learn about the CN than straightaway jumping in.

I'd suggest using PPC search network for new PPC mkters.

Placement targeting can be tougher, especially if you don't have the fundamentals down pat yet.

It's not what many people want to make us believe.

Ok, while I may not really get the Counterstrike analogy, I figure it might be kinda like ... um ... peeing, wherein aim and targeting are critical.

Not trying to be coarse on purpose, but does that work?

In any case, Happy New Year!

Best wishes,
Sine

ahhh, counterstrike. i get it andrew, thanks for that analogy. also, thanks to you Ruck for this post. After reading your initial post about this, I went and set my account up and was ready to go. Then after reading a follow up to your post, I realised Im not ready yet to fire at this so I paused my campaign. I am learning myself up right now and will keep pluggin away but I can see how this will be profitable IF we use the "how" and "WHERE" that you spoke about in one of your past posts.

HAPPY NEW YEAR guys (and gals)!

The thing with placement targeting is that it's a different animal from your regular search and content campaigns.

To use a Counter Strike analogy, you're using an Artic Magnum AWP, while the guys on search are using the m16 carbine or the ak47, and the content guys are using chain guns and spraying all over the place.

if you get the game analogy and are able to adjust your thinking appropriately, you can come out on top. Else you're headed for a 'terrorists win!' scenario...

The key is to develop a large keyword list as you would for a search campaign and then running those keywords in all 3 big search engines and looking at the first page placements and notice if they are running adsense :)...

Also..it's not site targeting. Many people make the huge mistake of placing ads on sites. You should be targeting specific pages.
