I wish more web sites would follow your advice. Half the email spam I get is for high priced items that can easily be purchased cheaper with just a couple of google searches. After one or two emails with totally untempting offers, the unsubscribe button is the way to go.

About the last strategy you said..$1 trial. I seen this thing many times. I agree with you. People mostly forget about trial or they don't really know how to stop it. Sometimes the merchant make it hard to stop the trial...LOL.

Great suggestion on using incentives to boost up sales. I agree with this concept. I have heard Dennys have used this incentative of a free meal for anyone, and they lost 5 million, but made up for it, and profited even more than they would have when they didn't start the promotion.

I never said it would be ethical. It is just another way to make money. Yes you will have upset customers. But you should have a well enough backend that you don't have to worry about that. A trial offer is an excellent way to get someone into your program.

It looks like a good way to increase response rate and sales but it is not ethical. Surely, this will be hit and run customers. There won't be any return customers if we play by acai berry formula (charging after 5- 7 days).

Giving away the first chapter is EXCELLENT. That gives people a sneak peak and if you write it good enough it will definitely hook them into the book.

What would you suggest if, for example, you plan on releasing a book? Give away the first chapter? Signed copies?

I'm not saying paypal specificly. Just a general payment processor. I know someone that is doing this method with Clickbank and they are making pretty good profit. But your right. Your product needs to be solid so you don't get hit too hard with refund requests.

"Once the trial is up BOOM they get hit for $97. Most people will forget about this. They just think “Okay great $1 and I get this product for 3 days” then 3 days later when they forget about it they get hit with a paypal receipt saying THANK YOU FOR YOUR PURCHASE. hmmm kinda slimy and sneaky… But look at the acai berry offers. This is exactly what they are doing. Any time you have to pay $x for a trial offer you can bet that you will be billed in 3-7 days for the full amount."

- Not really, cos paypal is pretty lax abt refunds, and if they get a string of complaints, they'll freeze yr paypal account and you can't touch the $50k you have in it.

Plus it takes them another 6mths to unfreeze it.

I don't suggest doing this tactic unless your product is really solid.

-
On the acai/dating and other rebills, it's not uncommon to have about a 20-30% refund/chargeback on the rebills. You need to factor it into your cost of doing biz and roll with the punches.

-
In both cases, it can be profitable and do very well, but if you are going in with the idea you're going to be rolling it it, you're going to be in for one rude awakening

This is interesting. I can definitely see the difference between giving away things that relate to your niche verses givng away non niche products.

There is a lot to learn from CPA offers in this respect.
