My Diet Is Not Going So Good

Ok, I have to admit it. Over the last week I have been cheating a lot on my diet. I have been going to bed around 5 am every morning and then of course my fiance tells commands me to wake up at my normal waking time. I got a ton of open projects so the idea of “I need to take it easy” is simply not something I¬†want to hear. I can’t go for a walk nor can I drive to the gym. There has been over an inch of sleet on the roads over the last 3 days and I am a wuss when it comes to driving on ice.

On top of all the bad shit that is going on, I decided to hop on the scales last night. Of course when I hopped on the scales I was eating a sandwich. (Go figure). The end result was not so good. I am up to 228 pounds now. The only bright spot in this whole thing is that I am putting on more muscle mass than I thought. Here a couple of months ago I spent some money on weight equipment so I could take little 10-15 minute breaks here and there while working.

I have also really slimmed down on the pop. Here, two months ago it was nothing for me to put those big bottles of Mountain Dew down. I am not talking about drinking 1-2 of them a day. I was easily killing of those plastic 6-packs you can buy. That is a ton of pop. Since I have kicked the pop down to one a day (most of the time) I have noticed that I don’t get really bloated anymore (thank god) and the “acidthroat” as I have coined it is not even there anymore. I am however on a steady dose of Prilosec OTC. Prilosec is a 14 day course that has turned into a 90 day course for me so far. I am not sure that is real healthy on the body but it makes me feel better. I don’t have to deal with all the heartburn anymore.

Unfortunately for me, I caught a very disturbing post from Eli on the WickedFire forum about Sleep Apnea. I was reading of all the symptoms and I am now convinced that it’s time I stop denying my problems and go seek Professional help. Every morning when I wake up it seems like I have a freight train running thru my head. It gets worse, my fiance actually got up one morning and went to go sleep in another room because she said my snoring was “unbearable”. The way she described it was not normal. I wanted her to record it so I could hear it for myself, but she has yet to do so. There are a bunch of other symptoms that I read about as well that I am experiencing but I don’t feel real comfortable sharing them.

However I managed to find a little inspiration. I have been reading a lot of Fat Man Unleashed. Israel writes some pretty great stuff and his About page is really inspiring. Thanks Israel! So far it is giving me some good ideas about how to turn this whole situation around.

The problem with me is that I will cut pounds every week but my body seems to be toning and turning it into muscle. I would like to get down to the 200 lb mark since I am 6’2 but it is looking like a hard, long stretch to get there. I am on a mission today to find a better diet plan and start writing down some true goals and actually sticking by them instead of just trying to do everything on whim.

If you are replacing fat with muscle, you will weigh more. Plus it is winter, the body naturally holds more fat to heat the body. It will pass as the weather gets better. We just had your ice storm. Not as bad, but here in Michigan we have had lake effect snow since the 1st of November. I am just hoping it will start to stay daylight longer than 5:15pm. I hate all this darkness. Makes me want to eat all the wrong carbs. :-(

Man, check a doctor seriously. You do not want any unpleasant surprises.

On a side note, what is with this security certificate it pops up every time i visit your blog? Is it just for me?

December 12, 2007

Hi Nick,

Are You using IE7? I try to cross browse my blog once a week and I saw this as well. I am off to go look into it.

{Edit} Hey Nick, I think I fixed it. I crossed browsed on the 3 that I used. Please let me know if you experience
it again. I really don’t know what the problem was, I was fiddling around in my forum folders and think I was
in the wrong one. LOl.

I noticed that there site was under maintenance last night and they recently upgraded their affiliate program so I had to switch my information over to them. I had a small banner in the footer and have removed this until I find out from them what is going on.

But are you saying you got the alert just now, or earlier?

Hey Ruck,

I know this is going to sound lame but it really has helped my health dramatically. First of all make sure you are not taking alleve or tylenol on an empty stomach. That shit was fucking me up hard.

Second buy a Juicer. I know lame but listen. Now don’t go crazy and buy a ton of vegies and fruits and create some crap, but keep it simple at first.

Here is how I started:

Juice up:
5 carrots and 2 apples X 3 times a day.

eat smaller meals whenever I am hungry.

After a few weeks I found myself actually craving the juice. Now I am juice up to 5 drinks a day and eat 2 smaller meals.

As a result I have lost 40 lbs, feel great, my skin color looks really good, my blood pressure is down 2o pts.

To sum it up: Skip the diet stuff that is impossible to stick with long term. Try the veges and fruits for a month. You will like how you feel.

Ruck, I know what it’s like.

I used to cycle 5 miles to work every day, back when I had a real job. Even in winter, wearing a balaclava with ice on my glasses. I never felt so fucking alive.

Now I wheeze going up and down stairs. I have to force myself to go out for a walk every day. It’s hard, working from home.

Truly Is!

The ice here is supposed to melt tomorrow and the wifey gots me going out tomorrow evening so it will be great to go out and do something…I love my work but dangit, I hate it too :)

Man listen. Im not sure what the problem is with turning fat into muscl. If you want to slim down kick up the cardio but keep doing training. Befreo your workout start out running a mile on the tread mill. It take like 12 minutes for me because I run it on my toes for Thai Boxing. Its a good warm then you do your wokout. On your off days run a mile for fun then go home. 30 miles in 30 days. Thats a lot of miles. I was gettin pretty heavy back in 92 before I wnt into the Army. How did they kill my fat? They Ran it off of me and after just 8 weeks I was the skinniest I had been in my entire life. Not only that but you feel good too. Then after 30 days you will bumb that mile to two miles. Its like building an internet business. It takes time to do it right. Diets Do work, but in the words of my thai boxing instructor, “Man if you keep running and working out your body will be forced to keep up. Soon you’ll be able to eat whatever you want and itll shed off your body.”

However you should still stick to Natural foods without additives. Whole foods are the best, rice, potatoes, chicken, vegatables, fruit -all normal Not in a box or with shit added to it – make it yourself.

I was doing hard protein diets for a while and those worked great to lean me out, but then when I would quit the pounds would come back fast.

If you’re gonna be a gym rat then sure, stick to the diets, but you’re a busy guy. Just take time out of your day and start adding that run mile to your day. Remember when you do, its NOT a race! Do it at your own pace. Don’t compete with the other guys who are on the treadmill just keep a nice steady pace. You got to build up your lungs and your heart muscle first.

Like Building up an engine block! The same with muscle. So Bigger heart muscle, stronger lungs and more muscle = burning more calories naturally and using more fuel i.e. fat has to be used my the body to replace that energy = you start leaning down.

Ahh thanks Geese for the detailed reply. As you can see I am very green in this area and haven’t been applying myself to routines or anything like that with my body. This is great man!

Sleep Apnia is no joke. If you think that is what part of your problem is then you should really seek proffessional help.

With sleep apnia, in more serious cases you stop breathing all together.

If you arent sure if this is what is happening.
Waking up in shear fright is a good sign of it.
You stop breathing, your mind goes WTF and your mind forces you awake the best way it knows how, and that is by giving you the “fright” emotion with or with out a breif frightning dream.

I was diagnosed with it almost a year ago.
And had to go in for the over night studies.

On the other hand of your Wieght.
I know the feeling as well.
Allthough the heaviest I have ever been was 187 lbs, at 5ft 9in.
Some would say (even the military) that I was over wieght.

But I felt like a monster, 187 lbs and still slid into 30in waist wranglers :)

Body fat is what you should realy be concerned about if you have been working out pretty hardy.

Crap, sorry bout the long post.

And here I always imagined you as skinny!

I get a friend who lives by the Mexican border to send me Phentermine and then I religiously read the forums. Have lost 25 this year (and I wasn’t fat to begin with!)

Ruck, I love reading your posts over at BHW! good luck with your dieting!

December 14, 2007

I was skinny. I was 170 in February. I went to florida and totally got fat since then. Sucks.

December 14, 2007

Hey man, you dont look 228 in your pics.
were they taken some time ago?

Geeze, this posts got more replies than your $$$ making ones…

Those pics I was near the 200 mark. I was thinking about updating my about page and you can get a closer look at the fat guy :)

I put on about 5lbs on my recent Vegas trip.

I’m 5’10” and 185lbs.
The other day when I was working on something at 2am, I felt like my heart was being squeezed and was thinking “Geez…..this will suck if it’s a heart attack…”

What a trip this lifestyle is, eh?

December 14, 2007

Well my friend you have a large advantage over me. Your well known and at least you take these trips. The furthest I get away from the house is about 25 miles when we go shop. And if I can help, it ain’t much.

I was seriously starting to think about attending some of these events just to get the scoop on the inside and have the chance to listen to the best and would be great for me to have an excuse to maybe take the wife and kids on a trip if it would work out. Plus I need it :)

December 14, 2007

Er…Let’s go into the “you’re well known” discussion.

I’d pick banking over fame any day.

Affiliate Summit West is where it’s at.
Come down to Vegas in Feb if you’re able to.
It’s always a good time for networking and you know as well as I do that getting ONE solid income growing tip makes the entire trip pay for itself, right?

With your height I wouldn’t worry about how much weight I was carrying – that is as long as you’re eating right.

I would get to a doctor quick about that acid reflux and sleep apnea. Don’t play around with sleep apnea – I had symptoms of it for over a year, but it took me falling asleep (suddenly) while driving my car (during the daytime) to take action. So get yourslef to a sleep specialist, get the study and get the dx confirmed. If you have obstructtive sleep apnea, you might have to sleep w/ a CPAP. It takes some getting used to, but you’ll feel a whole lot better and your wife will rest better as well.

Glad I could inspire you. That inspires me right
