So which is which, or what’s the difference, or should we join both?

I got into affiliate marketing for a few reasons. I love the internet and would be spending time online regardless of “work” but having the chance and ability to make money as well just made it a dream job. I’ve had a few sites in the past that were just made because they were about hobbies and such but at the time I had no idea about monetization in any form besides hearing about google adsense but at the time I didn’t even care about that since I was doing it for the love the the hobby and friends I made with the same interest.
All it took for me to start thinking about making money online was having really crappy jobs along with some physical problems. I have a form or arthritis and had both of my hips completely replaced by the time I was 26. But all during that time I was working at jobs where I was on my feet all day for up to 14 hours a day (between 2 jobs) and I was just doing longterm pernament damage…beyond the pain, knowing it was doing more damage really made me want to get away from that type of work. So while working 60-70 hours a week I spent even more time at home trying to build up some sites to make some money in a way that wasn’t going to kill me lol. After about a year of making a little revenue I was making just enough to cover my main bills so I cut back on spending and took the plunge and started doing “web stuff” full time this year. Although I am super happy about trading the crazy work shedule, all the pain and lost time I’m still just basically living “check to check”…just my checks come from google and CPA networks lol.
So it didn’t take me long to realize I needed to up the revenue sources and started hearning about and learning about affiliate marketing and PPC. I’m still a complete noob at it and don’t have much of a budget to learn on, let alone make real money yet, I am confident I will start making more and more as I learn more and test. So I guess it was part desire to not be broke and a bit not wanting to go back to killing myself that has led me to a more focused look at affiliate marketing. I’ve talked with Jennifer F. at Market Leverage a bit about helping me get started on smaller scare campaigns but need to call her anyway about one offer I was hoping to run some test on :).
Sadly I have even thought about going back to get a “real” job for a while just to build up a decent amount of cash to put right back into my affiliate marketing test lol. But it’s like a catch-22. I just need to ramp up whatever types of revenue I can so I can invest it back. Just makes it hard when most of my revenue goes straight to paying regular bills rather than being able to re-invest and build things up. But I’m definitely not giving up on that ;).
BTW a huge thanks to Ruck and Kris for all the content here. Although I haven’t been able to do a ton of testing myself, a ton of your tips have saved me a ton of money I didn’t have to lose. I know you can’t really learn until you do it, but the tips and suggestions here have saved me quite a bit of wasted test and time and given me good ideas of where to spend more time.
Because of some stupid mistakes in college, we are up to our eyeballs in debt. And compounding those mistakes, a few years ago I went to work for a dot-com startup, and the business tanked. Rather than find a new job, I just kept working at the same one, hoping that the business would pull up. It didn’t. This drained our finances and led to a bunch of late bills. So now, I’m trying to manage about 40K in credit card debt that’s running around 30 percent interest. Sucks balls.
My wife hates her job, and my hours are maxed out. So I need to figure out some way to “uncouple earnings from hours worked” and internet marketing seems to be the best way to do that. In theory, I should be able to use some of my web learnin’ to automate some of these processes ( and I have put together a few sites using datafeeds and such that work “ok” ).
My goal is to get rid of enough of our debt that she can stay home with the kids.

I am from a very modest background and the only way to support the family is either through a job or something like affiliate marketing. Although I am not earning a consistent income I hope to hone my skills and earn the kind of money that would help me stay and enjoy with my family.
This blog has really slown down. Please post the whole method or more of it rather than a little snippet..like the iframe stuff. Some of us actually want to use this but we would like the whole method first.

I got into internet marketing after doing fairly well with Made for Adsense Sites. My Made for Adsense sites where so much work to get set up and get running. I spent three months making them and they all got indexed and where making money and then after three months they were all un-indexed all of a sudden all my income was gone. I got pissed off and decided to give up on the internet all together but a friend of mine said that I should not give up all I learned. I think he was right. I did give up for a few months but the internet kept calling me back I would find my self on forums looking for a better way while doing that I stumbled across affiliate marketing and here I am trying to make it work.

I got into affiliate marketing for the money, I loved the idea of one day driving a new hummer with some 24 inch rims, and getting a lot of hot chicks in the process. I hate working 9-5pm and figured this is the best way to get around that. I am driven by the money and the enjoyment I get seeing my account grow, its like smoking crack to me. a boss.
I really don’t like having a boss. I don’t like taking orders. Most of my bosses have been really cool. But they’re still bosses. I want to be like Tim Ferris and FIRE MY BOSS.
I want to build an online business that nets 3x my current salary. I want to wake up in the morning and make pancakes for my awesome girlfriend before she goes to work so I can go back to bed and wake up at 10 to finally start my day. I want to check stats at 10:15 to see that I’ve all ready racked up $200 in commissions. Then i want to go to the gym, eat lunch, take a nap then check stats at 3pm to see that I’m up to $500. Then may be I’ll start ‘working’ for the day by researching niches, tweaking campaigns, coding some php for an upcoming project. By 7:30 i’ll take the lady out for dinner. I’m picking up the check because I can check stats on the iPhone during dinner and see that I’m about to hit $800 for the day. After dinner its time to fire up the BluRay machine in my dedicated home theater with the 128″ projection screen and Bose sound system. After the movie I jump on the laptop to see that I’ve broken $1000 on this day.

I got into affiliate marketing for various reasons. Number one is that it allows me flexibility. I work from home now so I am able to be with my wife and kids. I can go to school functions, be at home with the baby, etc. I also chose it because it removes the glass ceiling that the typical job places on your income. Yes, there are risks and trying times and making money on the Internet takes work, but it is very rewarding and lucrative.
