I think creating websites and build them for others is a very technical job actually...but doing SEO for others is somewhat I can say a bit enjoyable...

I agree on not taking too many projects at the same time. Just work on one project, finish it, get some links to it, and let it grow. While your getting a nice amount of traffic it's time to start a new project.

I found lot of useful information down here which propels me to write new business plans and strengthen my running business. Its just fascinating experience to visit this site... More ever keep on continue posting new plans too.

I usualy just write down the whole timeline of things I've done so far. It lets me know how long everything took and what results it brought.

Yes it is definitely important to have a business plan, without one... your chances for success are much less. It is like a software company that is coding a big project, they just don't go out there and start coding and working on it. What they do is, they build the entire plan on paper, and outline what needs to be done, and at what stages, just a really thorough plan. That is what most successful businesses do as well. So there is a pattern.

Till then,

Jean

As one of Aesop's fables tells us: Slow and Steady wins the race.
I think this applies to business as other aspects of our life. I know when you are getting ready to launch into business for yourself you want to do this and that, and maybe some of the other too, you have all that energy and positive vibes going through you - you feel like you are ready to take on the world. Then after you get going reality sets in, you crash from the overload of it all, and then you get that sinking feeling you are in over your head. I a not saying you can't have more than one goal or strategy, but ease into it.

Definitely start by creating a business plan, it is just good sense. Research what is going to pay and what isn't, strategize and prioritize and go from there.

It makes sense to first get really proficient at your strengths, and to then broaden our horizons. Overextending yourself can be really detrimental to both your sanity and the product you eventually deliver to your customer.

Very Inspiring, One point I picked up and would like to expand on is " Do not take on too many projects at one time" This could be the beginning of a failed game plan. What happens especially in PPC and SEO is bot require some reasonable amount of time spent on a campaign. If you are doing this yourself then, make your you manage your time effectively.

I think that taking on too many things at the same time is something that most webmasters and small business owners do. You start out by doing a little bit and then all of a sudden you're trying to do everything only to then try to get back to only doing a few things and do them really well.

I definitely have suffered from taking on too many things at once in the past..... I am a competent designer / blogger and other things but am pretty new to PPC and won't be offering it as a service just yet. But it's definitely something for me to consider in the future.

Agreed, a business plan when you start out will really help you from saying: "I must have been crazy to think that..." down the road.
