Spring Cleanup For Better Optimization

Today is one of the days where I absolutely felt like crap after waking up. Granted I did stay up until 4 am working on a new site for Jeff and I. As usual I went thru my work-out routine and went for my morning jog which usually refreshes me. After taking a shower and sitting down at the command center, I started making my rounds but could not for the life of me engage in any comments or hardly any forum postings let alone want to start on the days productivity spread sheet. Sheesh!

I guess the morning work-out and jog is going to have to be revised into something harder. I started optimizing the home office a bit more (specifically the desktop) and here’s what I came up with. Currently I am still unsatisfied with the setup but at least I can run all communications off a separate machine now, which is vital considering the amount of gabbing I have been doing with affiliates, managers, network owners, entrepreneurs and marketers over the last couple of months.

A mess at first:

HAHAHA YOU CRACK ME UP!

I wish my office cleaning involved 5 monitors.

Would you consider uploading a template of your productivity spreadsheet for others to use?

Ruck,
My next setup will definitely have at least 6 monitors set up. Do you use a KVM switch with several desktops, or are you using one or two machines that have and extended Windows desktop onto all the monitors?

The set up in the 3rd pic gets my vote – I’m getting a kind of Gordon Gecko vibe from it with all the monitors :-). Our desks are somewhat similar – mine has a fold down draw for my keyboard & a hutch with 2 small drawers on the sides.

Oh about your feeling wiped out after your AM workout & jog .. what do you expect after staying up until 4 am (lol)?

Wow, that is one impressive set up. I’ve never seen anyone with five monitors at their home office unless they were in graphic design or video editing.

Might need to look into getting a bigger desk ;)

Yea,

Since getting a little bit into day trading, I wanted a few more monitors. The one on top is ran on a seperate INTC cable for super fast loading. This is where I can operate AIM, Skype, Yahoo and others. Back in the day with all those running I would sometimes crash my pc to where it all locked up.

Since I outsource a lot of projects such as coding and article writing thru oDesk, I keep a monitor open that allows me to login and view the progress of the projects being complete. Sort of like a boss watching over the shoulder kind of thing. Really cool stuff.

This setup is ran off two custom built machines. Your right though, I need a bigger desk and am looking into it right now. Here’s what I will be moving too eventually so finding a desk to accomodate it is on the list:

8 is nice but doesn’t fit well with my scheme. I only showed the 5 monitor setup desktop. To the right of me I have 2 laptops :)
Although if your going to go 8, got to go with something besides them small fry 19’s

Nice, youve nearly got a NASA Control center and with the new setup you plan on getting, that would deffinently be an awsome control center.

I have been shopping around making my “wish list” for my office setup after I get back to the states and get out of the army, that massive thing has now been added to my wishlist haha.

Will be a nice upgrade from my desktop on the desk in the kitchen (which has actually been put into storage now) and my laptop here on my coffee table.

More monitors do not equal increased productivity. Period.

April 23, 2008

@Rohan – In my case you’re absolutely wrong :)

April 24, 2008

I’m sitting here looking at three monitors from 1280 x 800 to 1920 x 1200. Multiple monitors definitely better than one big one.

I moved away from a single 30″ (2500 x 1600) back to multiple monitors and productivity has been up.

Not sure I like the multiple dedicated machines idea though. It’s nice to be able to copy and paste between all the environments and have a single keyboard.

Could you explain in more detail why you are using so many machines?

April 24, 2008

So many machines? I am only using 2 machines and 2 laptops. This setup has been torn down and I am finally done on the setup. I’ll post another pick but running two machines aint no problem at all. You guys got to realize something though, I’m running quite a few automated programs throughout the day on the 2nd machine and laptops.

April 29, 2008

lol. A nice setup always helps you do much more without losing focus. My office at home has never really been a mess, but I am sure that I can find a way to maximize my work efficiency!
