Another Tooth Extraction

Late last night I got scheduled in for another tooth extraction. If you remember I had one of my far back teeth extracted somewhere in the middle of January. Fortunately this time it was a tooth that was not causing problems (unlike the last one) but my Dentist was going on vacation next week and with the baby being really close I had (L) schedule the appointment late yesterday evening.

The last one was hell. Being the last tooth in top back and never had a dentist pull a tooth before I had no experience with that sort of thing. Got thru it fine (thanks to some drugs). This front tooth was a beast though. I should have kept it but didnt. This thing (I kid you not) was about 2 1/2 inches long. I never even had an idea how long this thing was. I bet a dollar to a doughnut this thing went clear up to the base of my nose. Which is crazy because I’ve had my nose broke 4 times now and it’s caused some cartilage problems and irregularities which means that my nose is bigger than it should be.

Anyway I popped a Vicodin at about 10 am this past morning and crashed until like 3:30 pm. Which was also crazy because I actually went to bed before midnight the night before. I think it’s safe to say that I got some much needed rest and it came from the expense of an emergency tooth extraction. I think (L) thinks I am a little nuts with everything I got going on but I was never the type to half ass it.

So anyway back to the tooth.

Your going to think I may be full of shit when I tell you this next part. I am happy to take a picture of this fugly mess just to prove this (if anyone wants to puke, let me know, I’ll snap a pic). The dentist had the pick that pokes at the base of the bone right to *elevate* it away from the skin. Guess what? The pressure he was putting on it was immense. Literally I wanted to headbutt the guy. Anyway the pick slips and goes out from inside my gum thru the outside of my gum into my upper lip and cuts across about 3 inches. Read that next part very carefully and imagine that for a moment without any novacaine numbing that part of your mouth. I now have 37 stitches in my gum. Yes, you heard that right. I have 37 stitches in my top gums because of a simple error. If that’s not enough to piss all over your week, I dont know what is.

So anyway, who’s up for some more of the CPA Series tomorrow? I got some web placement and some nice Yahoo and MSN tricks to talk about to get some offers going for cheap and easy. We will glide into landing pages and tracking a little bit as well but for the most part, I would like to cover the easy stuff (gaming the engines easy) so that you can at least absorb that thru the week/weekend before we talk about centering around offers and building sites.

Really pissed and wont sleep for a week now. Peace.

I want a pic!

March 12, 2008

Damn Ruck! And you had to pay for all that! Ugghhh! Man, I’m sorry to hear all that and now with “L” about to deliver! All I can say is”Bless your heart!”

Now, normally when a southern woman says “Well, bless your heart” it is usually code for”Screw You”…but I mean it, bless your heart! (:

Take care of yourself–and take it easy, will ya?!?

March 12, 2008

@ Collin – Yea, I will have L take a pic tomorrow morning and you let you see this mouth full of stitches.

March 12, 2008

Do it. I really want to see. That should be some sick mess. Did he make you pay?

March 12, 2008

Yea but I get the stitches out Friday and there will be words not so softly spoken. I didnt know how about it was until I got into the car and looked in the mirror. Even now I can only pull the lip up so high to survey the damage.

March 12, 2008

Man I feel your pain. You’re causing me to have flashbacks about my impacted wisdom teeth (rear)! I can really relate to your wanting to head butt your dentist …I would’ve put mine in the chair and shoved the drill in HIS mouth if I hadn’t been so doped up :-).

@Della: lol…so, that’s what that means :-)

March 12, 2008

Goddamn Ruck. I had my wisdom teeth out when I was 18 but the dentist didn’t end up stabbing me in the face or anything like that. Get well soon!

March 12, 2008

Ouch… i hate toothaches.

Poor Ruck.. I’m up for some more of the CPA Series, hope writing them will distract you from the pain in your mouth Ruck!

Take Care!

March 12, 2008

I feel for you Ruck. I had all 4 wisdom teeth (which were impacted) removed a few months ago … wish I had done it a long time ago (I’m a lot older than you). Now that everything is healed, it’s the best thing I ever did. Hope you feel better soon … I’m eagerly awaiting your next lesson! I also had a baby girl 6 months ago, my first child … small world, huh? (well it was actually my wife who had the baby, if you want to get technical)

March 12, 2008

I hear all the time that people have all their wisdom teeth pulled at once? I’ve seen a couple of relatives go thru it and I had that one pulled. Dentistry on humans is cruelty to animals.

@ Chunkles – Congrats on that little one! They tell you “they” had the baby and I usually just go along with it. I remember passing out during my first sons birth. True story. Nurse helped me up and asked me to leave the room. Doctor said “At least it wasnt a dry birth” followed by him handing the scissors towards me and asking “Does daddy want to cut the cord”. Nuff for me right there, decide I just slump down and take a nap in the delivery room.

First one scarred me. Second one I was able to go thru completely. 3rd on will be on Google Video if I get my way :) J/k………….Sorta

Wow, that really blows, a 37 stitch mistake… dam. It must be such a pain to eat anything.

Your whole situation sounds really gross, so hell yea i wanna see a pic :D, this is the internet, i bet it’d go viral, haha.

I’m pretty pumped about the tricks your going to teach us tommorrow… my brain has been overwhelmed with information since i’ve been here, and i dont want it to stop, ever, lol.

Off Topic:

I have a quick question about your “CPA Marketing Series – Domain Variation Examples” post.

Im just curious about the ads you used with the domain targeted ad groups. Should we be targeting the Domains in the ad somehow?

I made a campaign based on your technique, and got about 2000 impressions, but no clicks.

Are the individual ads targeted to the domain keyword somehow, or is the ad just general?

Thanks, and good luck with the mouth :)

March 12, 2008

Man, that really sucks. I’d try to negotiate for some free dental care from that guy. Then again, I’m not sure you’d want to risk it.

That tooth seems killer. I’d make a necklace out of it. :)

March 12, 2008

Ah gruesome story Ruck, but for some reason I still want to see the pics. Can’t wait for some more CPA series info too. Take care!

March 12, 2008

Holy SH&$

You didn’t go for the twilight sleep man?
Check it out Ruck…. I NEVER have any dental work done unless those bastards knock me out. I mean sleeeeeeeep. I wake up with some pain and discomfort and a prescription for Vicodin and some strong meds
Meds that make me wanna dance!
And I hate to dance.
But as far as the stitches pal, looks like we got an incompetent doctor working on you. Or is he a recent graduate? Seems to me you got yourself a small malpractice suit. hmmmmm?
Take your antibiotics and feel better.

Get better soon. Although my trips to the dentist have been a little better than yours, I have two cousins who are sick right now from their last dental checkup.

I guess the person who was cleaning their teeth did something wrong and introduced some evil bacteria into their bloodstream. For about a week my uncle thought that my cousin had a urinary tract infection, but they went in and had her tested, and she actually had an abscess on her kidney. All from a tooth cleaning. I haven’t heard anything recently, but I assume that she’s doing ok.

I had my first one 16 months ago, and no problems except that she came early, and almost ruined some long held concert plans. I think I slept about 3 hours the day before the birth, and probably less than that while in the hospital.

The birth was easy. Considering everything I’ve seen on Stile Project, that was nothing. Hell, I used to eat pizza while watching the Faces of Death movies. Even so, it was an experience.

When we were discharged, I brought my wife home, got her settled in, then turned around and drove 3 hours to see Godsmack. I had a $50 ticket, and first child be damned, I went.

Anyway, good luck on the upcoming birth.

March 12, 2008

Damn Ruck, hell of a way to ruin the week!

When I was in the Navy they required everyone to have their wisdom teeth pulled prior to being sent to a ship, and yep they took them all at once. Luckily for me I only had 3…and the 4th has yet to ever appear. However, they only had Percocet at the time to ease the pain, which are inferior to Vicoden.

March 12, 2008

Wow…Ruck you’ve given me even more reason to avoid the dentist, LOL. I’m sure it is quite painful and I’d really be ticked off at the dentist. Sorry you had to go through that!

March 12, 2008

… meanwhile the dentist’s toilet bowl filled up with bricks …

March 12, 2008

Kansas Dental Board, BBB, etc. There’s no excuse for that nonsense. If he doesn’t charge you or cuts a big discount, fine. Otherwise, file a complaint.

March 12, 2008

You know… That loss of work your having because you have to take time off for the pain can lead to a big settlement check HAHAHA

March 12, 2008

Ugh! Thanks for reminding me why I don’t like to go to the dentist. The next to the last dentist I went to, one that put in considerable pain, was named “Royal Fink”. No joke, Google it and you’ll find him listed in dental directories.

Anyway, best of luck with those teeth and with the new kid.

March 12, 2008

@Frank C

That’s funny man. I once got a business card from an auto mechanic. Dude’s name was …

“Dick Munch”

March 12, 2008

+ Rep to Yebot for making me laugh so hard the stitches come out on their own.

March 12, 2008

Damn Ruck… that’s brutal. I hate Dentists. I swear they do this crap just to make that backend sale! ;-)

A little bump never hurts nobody, unless you’re a dental patient!

Last time I had teeth pulled, it was my Wisdom teeth – and that was on 2 different occasions… oddly enough, both times they cracked the tooth next to it, in which “I” had to pay for.

I have to go in for a Root Canal and a cap or bridge or something, in the next few months. Dentists are the only thing I fear in life. ;-)

March 12, 2008

Dude ya should of told me you needed work done.My wife works for an oral surgen and she removes wisdom teeth for a living and does implants and all kinds of jaw surgery .
Might have been able to save ya some $$$$ , maybe next time LOL
Bet your hoping for not a next time.

March 12, 2008

Hey Ruck,
I feel for you man. I had a wisdom tooth taken out a few months back but was very fortunate. The tooth broke in 3 pieces as the dentist tried getting it out. He spent one hour just on the last bottom piece. Didn’t have much pain afterwards so I can’t complain. I hope you get some form of compensation from the dentist for the mishap? It sucks in any case. Get to feeling better!

Greetings from Norway. ImagesAndWords

March 12, 2008

Ruck, Your stuff is the best. Since ive read your stuff on BHW ive been a HUGE fan of you. KEEP IT COMING, YOUR INFO IS LIKE CRACK (without the side effects!) :I

March 12, 2008

I think you need a new dentist. I would never trust this guy again. Also he better not be charging you for these services I know it wasn’t intentional but it is his mistake. Plus it will leave a scar. You might even be able to get some damages out of this guy. There’s really no excuse for this to happen. I’m sorry you had to go through that.

March 12, 2008

You think it will leave a scar? My lip is swelled so bad I cannot pull it back enough to get a good pic today. This I believe is from the location of the tooth. The spots where the stitches are does not really hurt other than when I eat and something bumps into them. As tight as these things are, if there is a scar, I am going to flip. I got to go back Friday and I’m going to have a chat with him.

March 12, 2008

I bet it sometimes makes you wonder what you had done in your past life to make you deal with the stuff you have gone through in this life.

Thats as deep as I get.

March 12, 2008

@ Yebot: THAT’s funny! I can imagine the look on your face when you saw his card :-)

March 13, 2008

Ouch, yeah that’ll leave a mark. I can’t imagine it not leaving a scar unless I am reading it wrong. Seems like most wounds to facial areas leave scars. I got whipped in the side of the head(right next to my eye) with a stethoscope last summer that surprisingly barely bled but still left a scar where it bled.

And yeah, I’d have a chat with your dentist.

March 13, 2008

There is nothing worse then going to the dentist, especially if they really fuck something up in your mouth. Good luck ruck! Let’s see some pictures.

March 13, 2008

Nasty, dude. I have a new way for you to make some money…sue the shit out of him.

March 13, 2008

This post is worthless without a youtube vid.

Hook it up Ruckles.

March 13, 2008

On a good note…you’re almost at 500 readers ;)

March 15, 2008

What a nightmare. I have had my share of root canals, crowns and bad experiences. After my last cleaning I couldn’t open my jaw for 3 days I am not even sure how it was traumatized. You should make a youtube video of this and at least make some commish for dental plans affil program if nothing else. Did he even apologize?

September 13, 2008

well for me i hate going to the dentist. If not for my worse case of the wishdom tooth. I hate it man…I can and fully understand the kind of pain and agony that ruck has.

November 30, 2008

I hate going to doctors! They always give you some medicines of thats stinks! And maybe they do something whatever pain you have.

August 24, 2009

Which was also crazy because I actually went to bed before midnight the night before. I think it’s safe to say that I got some much needed rest and it came from the expense of an emergency tooth extraction.

June 1, 2010

Sounds like a rough emergency tooth extraction. Prevention by way of good dental hygiene is key.

June 14, 2010

I could use a picture of that!

Dr Rosenrosen

It’s all ball bearings nowadays. Prepare the teeth with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads, and you’ll need ’bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

Man that is tough luck! I would never let anything like that happen at my practice. We try to treat all of our patients like they are at the spa!
