Yeah that “work whenever you want to” is something to be taken with caution. People see it and instantly think they are going to work a whole lot less then they once did, simply not true. Actually, they are more likely to be working even harder then they once did!

Patience and loving what you do are key to success.

If you find something boring and tedious, it’s just going to make you old, even if you make mucho buckola.

That’s the best way to shorten your lifespan IMO.

Ever since I was young i had no idea what i wanted to do. There wasn’t any subject I particularly like or was good at. Since I was interested in games, I wanted a career in the games industry but then realize programming or designing was like rocket science to me. Then I discovered internet marketing, the rest is history.

I have been saying, ‘love what you do’, for years. Long before the internet was available for the public. That’s why I became a computer instructor.

I tell people: Blog about something you would talk about forever for free.

Out of all my friends and associates only a couple are doing what they love. The others, well they are in a rut and afraid to change.

An example of doing what you love: I have a dozen blogs but only 5 of the 12 blogs are hobby blogs.

The 5 hobby blogs, things I love to do, make me money and I probably talk about them in my sleep but the others I have to put real blood, sweat and tears into if I want good content.

I have been playing guitar for 7 years now and have thought about blogging about my experiences and even having my friends write blog posts for me. It could be a lot of fun and a way to get them online.

The fun just never stops.

A wise person once told me “If you find a job that you love, then you’ll never work again,” and that really rings true to me. If you enjoy what you’re doing it’s always going to feel more like play than ‘work.’

There’s a strong correlation between my career as a blue sky paralegal and my career as an affiliate marketer. It took me 3 years to get in the right area of practice, right law firm and right lawyer to work with — in my 4th year I became “the man”. Persistence played a very important part, but my love for what I was doing & the desire to be excellent at it was what put me on another (higher) level. My affiliate marketing career is following a similar path, but I don’t believe it’s going to take 3-4 years to realize my definition of being successful online. Do I get frustrated when my ideas/efforts don’t pan out? Yeah, but I shake it off and get back in the saddle because I don’t believe in quitting, I’m having fun every day and I have a strong desire to be an excellent marketer. Do I enjoy affiliate marketing? You better believe it buddy :-)

Boy that line fits me to a tee!

As Eric stated, I have always been top of the class at everything I have ever done.

I have never put so much into anything in my life as working at being a success online at making money. I guess that is why quitting is not an answer. I know I am as capable as every other successful person and I am going to be a winner.

Is it frustrating? HELL YES!

I’m not sadistic so I must love what I am doing.

Yup. When I had a boss I hated working. Now I’m my own boss I push myself harder than they ever did.

The fact that at any time of the day I can go out for a walk or sit and watch TV is exactly the reason that I don’t. I find myself working 7 days a week because it’s all 100% for my own benefit and no-one else’s.

I wouldn’t trade this ‘job’ for anything.

I always get people asking me ‘what should I blog about’ and I just tell them exactly what you have said. You have to love what you do. So many websites are made just to make money, and there isnt anything wrong with that, but the ones that are going to be the most successful are the ones that have passion behind them!

most people will work 50 hours to make $5 when starting out. if you don’t love it you should quit now or it’s gonna be a bumpy ride.

I agree with you 110%. The best tip is, “Love what you do!” I love my “job” and look forward to going in to the office everyday. I wouldn’t call it a job. A job is something that you have to do earn an income that you don’t like. If someone dreads getting out of bed everyday and going to work. They should take steps to find what they have a passion for and figure out how to monetize it.
