Advertising Within Kaboodle

When assessing a site such as Kaboodle, you really have to buckle down and get to know the site inside and out to take advantage of every money making opportunity available to you. Now we covered how to use Kaboodle to find products and give you ideas on how to create your own listings and we even covered some of my own ideason how to incorporate products using datafeed sites or coupon sites. These are just great ideas to utilize the Kaboodle user base the way your supposed to without breaking any terms of service. Key point to remember here is that Kaboodlers ARE spending money. That’s why the site is there.

Well, let’s look at another awesome thing about Kaboodle and what it can do for us. Forgive me now, I am making this post very brief so that you can look at it and try to tap into my mind and see what I see when I start assessing sites and how to get the most money out of them.

These are located on EVERY product page individually and throughout the site :)

Best of both worlds here everyone. Not only can we list products as affiliates and use the site like it’s supposed to be used, but now we can even advertise blatantly inside it.

BOOYAH! Anyone familiar with Google Placement Targeting? … Nuff Said.

This is weird….and it just might be me- When I go to the Kaboodle Product Pages (like the one you show above) I don’t see any AdSense ads at all on any of the pages……I’ll have to play around with this

Hi Ruck,

I’ve been messing around with social shopping sites for a couple of months as a side project/experiment.

Here’s a few places you can use for research, adwords site targeting, etc. So many possibilities with this sort of thing:

http://www.clipfire.com/ - I use this for actual shopping. Good deals.

http://www.popshops.com/ - create your own store easy with merchants from CJ, SAS, etc. I combine their wordpress plugin with a wordpress cloner and mass installer for total niche store domination via ppc :)

P.S. The wishlist type sites do well with CPA offers of free ipods, giftcards, etc.

@ mike — ah yea they are image ads and you should see a block of text ads beside the product image and description.

Ruck,

Lets say i want to list a cj product right
How do i add the whole cj affiliate link to the product image and the part that says “see this at:”(thestore name)so when you hover over the link with your mouse you see the cj affiliate link.
how do you do that?
I have seen someone doing it.
I have tried to copy the cj aff link and paste it in my browser,but when i click go in my browser the affiliate link go’s away and the store name remains so when i click the add to kaboodle the affiliate dos not appear.

Hey Gail,

I got a few emails from people that are confused on the creating lists part of Kaboodle. Let me get a post up tonight or tomorrow that walks thru the whole process.

Umm, I got a couple of tricks that I do personally but you cannot see them on my test account. The way I do it is to use the toolbar, and I will show you quickly how I do everything and we can go from there.

A little confused on what your saying, but I think I get it and that’s kind of odd.

Couldn’t you just ’site target’ an AdWords ad to a CPA that gives away a similar product for free?

You could do an AdWords campaign to their jewelry page with an ad to ‘get jewelry 90% off’ or something.

I would think that would convert. Maybe I should be keeping these ideas to myself.

Dam weekend get here already, so I can sit here and go threw all the awesome ideas that are being thrown out here.

Placement targeting could be a good money maker here.

Now would we still have them go to a landing page and collect e-mail, name or could we direct link to offer or maybe an Iframe might be in store here(wink)

I was just working on my site; and I need to start using the aweber membership that I bought 3 months ago; so I go there and I needed to read ANOTHER 30 page ebook to figure the thing out. Another 30 page ebook! Ughhhh!

You can do anything you want really as far as placement targeting goes. But yes chris, that is the mindset you should have if you were targeting jewelry pages.

As far as list building goes in Kaboodle I dont think targeting specific products is going to be a very good viable method. Now if you had a discount site that offer a newsletter…..

Ruck: You’ve mentioned that twice; being able to offer discounts to people on your list. How do you do that? Doesn’t, say, tshirtexpress.com get annoyed with you offering a buck off each of their sales? Or are you working with them and paying them the buck from your affiliate income?

Their are tons of affiliate programs out there that offer discounts. A lot of these programs can be found within CJ, Linkshare and Shareasale.

Anyway, am I reading all this correctly? All these sites including Kaboodle are just allowing us to freely place our affiliate links all over their sites?

Well, not really, Scott. You would have to setup an AdWords campaign and choose ‘placement targeted’ instead of ‘keyword targeted’. Then, you go in an select the EXACT page where you want your ad to go.

Then, you just have to figure out how much to bid to knock the top advertiser off the mountain, run your ad, and get them to your ‘discount website’ with your free newsletter, if I’m interpreting Ruck’s comment correctly.

From there, you just sit back and listen to the beautiful sound of your interest accruing, it would seem. :-)

Yeah, aweber is the ticket. I just launched a site last month with a ‘free sign up’ form and I’ve got 10 subscribers. Not huge, but it’s a start.

I used a niche e-mail program to automatically create 52 e-mails that go out once a week for a year after they sign up…each with different articles, tips, and oh yeah, affiliate link$!

Placement Targeting is a 2nd option of Advertising within Kaboodle. Yes, you can absolutely place your affiliate links within Kaboodle.

I am going to go in depth on how to generate lists and put in your products (affiliate links) in my next post on Kaboodle.

So in recap — List Affiliate Products in Kaboodle, and advertise ON Kaboodle thru google placements.

Chris, I asked that because I noticed on most products that the destination url is an affiliate link. Could it be that way because Kaboodle themselves are monetizing peoples links with their own affiliate links? I understand the adwords site targeting.

Yeah chris you can post your aff link ,still waiting for ruck to show us the trick.
I have tried everything i could to get the cj link up but no luck,keep getting the store link instead of the cj aff link.

Gail, you do know that the CJ link you provide will not be the same at the destination. It’s just a tracking link to give CJ the info they need to charge the seller and credit you with the sale. It does that while passing the user on to the merchant’s site. Sometimes you will still see your PID on the other end.

Is that what you are asking about?

Scott,Yes i do know that if you click the cj link that it will redirect to the destination.
But how do i put a cj link in kaboodle so that when the user clicks it , it than redirects to the destination link.
in other words how do i add the cj affiliate link in kaboodle with the toolbar?
I have seen a cj product in kaboodle and when you hover your mouse over that product you can see the affiliate link at the left bottom of the browser then when you click the picture or the site ,it redirects to the destination link.
how did they do that?

I guess I am lost here? I got 2 Shareasale Datafeed sites with all their products listed on other Kaboodle accounts but am I missing something here?

You take your link and put it in your browser. Go to your link and hit add to Kaboodle. There is also the Edit buttons to use after putting your product in your list.

Hey Ruck,
That’s very cool. Did you have to enter each product one by one, or is there a way to mass post them? Or would that be spamming? I have a SAS datafeed site with over 1000 entries. I wouldn’t want to enter all of them, but maybe all from one category.

Well, I hired one of my sites out but the first one I did was basically take 30 minutes out of each evening when the daily craziness was over and started listing them. I know exactly what you mean about having tons of products but I dont know about mass uploading them.

The most important aspect is optimizing each product with keywords to take advantage of the rankings Kaboodly will bring.

One of the cool things I thought about was going to Amazon and picking out a specific category of say 100 products and complete a list each week.

Really there are so many things to do here it’s unbelievable. I wonder if it’s a matter of time before a programmer reads all this and messages me with a handy tool :)
