Making Money With Ringtones – Scale It Up

There’s been a lot of talk over the last week or so that gaming sites such as Youtube with watermarked urls for ringtone offers can make you money. Of course it can! You must be living under a rock if you have not done this before. There are many variations to the method but most of what I am seeing is that people are saying to watermark a video with something like:

Get The RingTone @

www.yourdomain.com

That’s all I do. Some morons are putting the word free in there so it’s only a matter of time before they are swiftly brought back down to earth. However the key here is LOTS of videos and destroy all the amateurs out there doing it. So how do you do that? Easy. I will tell you how here in a minute. First off you should know that in order to beat everyone else, you can’t think like everyone else. Start thinking about how people are doing things and how you can do it better. In regards to this simple stupid but VERY profitable method here’s exactly what I do.

1. To take care of the video sites I have 4 programs.

  • Ultraget
  • Total Video Converter
  • Video Watermark Factory
  • Video Post Robot

Google them. You can use anything you want in regards to these tools, these are just what I use.

With Ultraget I quickly take 5 Youtube videos and download them and they come out as FLV’s. I then mass import all 5 videos into Total Video Converter and convert them into MPEG’s. I then take these converted videos and mass import them into Video Watermark Factory and watermark each video with what I said above. I simply have my domain forwarded to a ringtone Affiliate link. I take my newly watermarked video and setup 5 quick projects in Video Post Robot. This tool uploads to 27 video sharing sites at once. Setup the videos to upload every hour for however many you have. Personally, I like to do 15-20 videos a week to the video sharing sites per account.

Now…

You should have save all these watermarked videos into a folder. Open up Limewire and every other P2P application you have and set the folder to be shared. Make sure to ALWAYS have the artist and song name in the title. This is how people find things on Limewire. The video should be laid with keywords pertaining to the artist and song.

Next…

Upload all the videos to torrent sites. Personally I have my own trackers and storage service. On my T1 line when I did this I was transfering anywhere from 350-400 Gigs a month. Now I can transfer over 2000 gigs a month and it does not even use my connection.

Scale it out, there are more ways to do this, this is just how I do it. 5 videos takes me about 30 minutes a day to completely setup and run.

Start thinking outside the box on this too. You can upload movie pieces and trailers and promote a Blockbuster or Netflix offer. You can even promote something like Columbia House Cd’s. For gaming there is Gamefly if you were uploading gaming vids. Tons of opportunity here but to grab it you have to be one step ahead of everyone else AND be producing on a large and VERY fast level. You can still make $100 a day but that’s peanuts.

As far as the quality of traffic is concerned since your watermarking they have to type your domain in so they are somewhat interested.

This article is intended for people already experienced in these types of methods. If you got a problem with it simply move on.

Been discussing this over at bhw lately and I’m gonna give it a go. So do you use a subdomain? Or do you have a domain name that has something about ringtones in it? I’m wondering if I should just buy a “ringtone” type domain for this purpose.

jayme

I didn’t know that you resorted to spam to make your money.

January 22, 2008

http://www.jammintones.com

I am running 5 offers all from a different network :)…although the networks want more traffic!

Personally I try to get a domain as close to the offer as I can. That domain was surprisingly not taken.

January 22, 2008

jayme – You can look at is as spam or as doing what almost 90% of what others do on video sites. Find something cool and reupload it.

I can tell you haven’t read the blog thoroughly. I do some aggressive tactics and if your not down with that I really could care less if your reading.

Thanks for reading the little disclaimer in Italics.

great post man. i sent you a email n regards to this. let me know whats up when u get a chance. peace.

the other dude on here must be upset because hes not making any money.

January 22, 2008
Mike

@ruck…good tip, thanks. but how do you run 5 different aff offers on the one redirect? if you put jammintones.com on the video, i see it redirects to jamster, isn’t that just one offer from one network?

January 22, 2008

yea man,

5 domains = 5 offers.

I just put that one domain up as an example.

January 22, 2008

Hey, great post, Ruck. I need to print and frame this one.

I also need to get that Mass Video Uploader. I’m just submitting to Y**Tube so I’m sure I’m losing out on a ton of traffic. I hadn’t even thought about P2P or torrents.

I also need to get quicker so I can do more than one at a time.

So do you create multiple accts and vote on them too?

By the way, I signed up for e-mail updates up in the top corner Feedburner box but I’m not getting them….FYI.

Thanks!

January 22, 2008

P.S. – SPAM comes from a can and tastes like crap. This, on the other hand, is creative marketing.

January 22, 2008
Renyu

Ruck, you’re missing out on cash? When i go to your jammintones i get redirected to some stupid site because i’m not from the US. Get a Geo IP script (IM me if you want it) and redirect non-us traffic to offers from their own country. There are many ringtone offers on millnic for a lot of countries.

January 22, 2008
Mike 2

For others who like Linux — Linux comes with some free tools to add watermarks and to convert from FLV to MPG. If one is crafty enough with Perl or Bash, they can even read YT urls from a file, do the automated conversion, and re-upload back to YT.

I have to hand it to Ruck, though, for thinking of this. Great idea!

January 22, 2008

That’s a nice talk here.
What about using those tactics with also using tools like Tube Automator? Did you try that yet? How else do you get traffic to your vids? Most of the times, it’s pretty hard to receive traffic.

January 22, 2008

@ Renyu – I know dude I already had calls about 330 codes showing in the network meaning I am getting foreign traffic.

The other thing really is I dont reupload a video to Youtube. I guess I could but I would imagine it getting deleted and your account banned quicker if people noticing you ripping. They are ripping too, it’s just one huge circle jerk.

I didn’t really think of this on my own. Bumps and stuff along the way and just been common knowledge for a long time.

To make the most cash on this money, always jump on the trends.
For example, if you are promoting pop ringtone. Go to pop charts like billboard, UK top 40…. and see what’s hot and what’s not. Target the hot selling singles/albums.

hope this helps,
CY

January 23, 2008
Mage

Renyu, is there any chance you could set up the geo redirect script for download?

January 23, 2008

Yes, I would like that redirect code as well, if possible. I’m working on a vid right now. Thx.

January 23, 2008

I’m interested in the geo ip script as well if you are willing to share :) Thanks!

January 23, 2008

Excellent article Ruck. Been reading about this method lately and it opened my eyes to other applications outside of ringtones, etc. Thanks

BTW, that ‘resorting to spam’ comment was hilarious. The way I see it, you’ve gotta be ‘creatively aggressive’ to get paid in this game. Like Gordon Gekko said ‘it’s trench warefare out there…’.

January 24, 2008

>Personally I have my own trackers and storage service

Can you provide more info on where to get this? I’ve looked but can’t find any information on it. And my dedicated host won’t let me run a tracker on my box.

G-Man

January 25, 2008

Hey ruck, do you iframe the ring tone offers or direct link them?

January 25, 2008

I buy a domain and redirect. Look at comment #3 (first one by me)

January 25, 2008

video post robot. Is that a monthly fee, and how fast is it to load. I got video upload pro software, and it takes ages to load 1 vid, and then it freezes so I just give up

January 25, 2008

Does ringtones tend to do better on Yahoo than on Google? Leas thats what I’ve been hearing.

January 25, 2008

i dont know, never promoted them on search.

January 26, 2008
Davidson

Great post Ruck. And I was one who never of thought of this before.

Can you use an inframe instead of a redirect for this? Wouldn’t you get better tracking through an iframe?

January 26, 2008

Hmm,

I dont see why night. The only thing with an iFrame is I have had browser troubles before. You may get better tracking, who knows really.

See I dont really concentrate on the method to hard. The idea is to really throw as many videos out there as you can….as fast as you can.

January 26, 2008
Davidson

Thanks Ruck. I haven’t done that many iframes or redirects. So I will take your advice and use the redirect route.

January 27, 2008
JOHN O

Erm, can somebody give me a link to a CPA offer from one of these companies for a ringtone offer or can someone tell me which network currently is running one.

January 27, 2008

Almost all CPA networks have ringtone offers. Copeac, CPA Empire, Cpa Storm, Primary Ads, the list goes on.

January 27, 2008

Thanks for giving me something new to try. I started night before last and I’m already making money via Rocket Profit. You guys should stop asking so many questions and get to work :)

January 27, 2008

Awesome News!

Rocket Profit is a damn good network :)

January 28, 2008
JOHN O

TMC – Just signed up to rocket profit.

How much money have you made with this method?

Ruck – How much do you make with this method?

How hard is it to make $200 a week?

January 28, 2008

Hi John,

4 sales @ $10.00 payout so far. I’m not pushing this as much as I could because I’m working on other things. I just like to try something different once in a while to see if it works. I’ll probably teach this to my niece so she can quit bagging groceries lol.

Anyway, I can’t see why you couldn’t do $200 (and even much more) a week with this.

On another note, it does seem like this method is making it’s rounds on forums and blogs, but I wouldn’t get discouraged by thinking this will get saturated. Most people will rule this out as “too much work” and some will jump in and probably give up real quick.

January 28, 2008

@tmc, were you just using youtube or were you doing torrents, limewire etc?

January 28, 2008

Just using Youtube for now. I’ll play around with torrents and other stuff later.

Hey, If you guys don’t want to pay for VPR, look at what I’m using free:

http://www.tubemogul.com/

January 29, 2008
Nick

Yo Ruck.. I’ve talked to you on AIM about this (chainsaws), and I’ve got maybe.. 50 vids uploaded to 30 diff sites right now.. Am getting abotu 40 impressions to the ringtone LP per day.. and have yet to have a conversion. At about what rate is this converting at for you? Getting frustrating.
Thanks!

(ps geo ip would be dope! get so much international traffic >.

January 29, 2008

40 Impressions?

I think you mean clicks. If you’ve got 50 videos on 30 sites and only 40 clicks your doing something very wrong. My guess is you uploaded way to fast and the videos got deleted.

January 30, 2008
Nick

My vids arent deleted.. Theyre getting views everyday… Just havent gotten 1 conversion yet.
Seriously dunno whats going on :/

January 30, 2008
Rob

I’m seeing about the same results as Nick, I submitted about 50 videos to 30 sites with Video Post Robot and have 1 conversion. I’m seeing about 50 clicks a day. I’ll probably do another 50 and see how it goes but it seems like an awful lot of work for little return.

January 30, 2008

Could it be that whenever I have tried to find a popular video on Youtube every one of them have watermarks>?

Now that BHW and WickedFire are doing this I would expect a ton of work for results. Another method bites the dust :(

January 30, 2008

This method has been beaten to death. The window of opportunity existed 2 or 3 months ago but now, you can’t swing a dead cat around in YouTube without hitting a music video that’s watermarked.

You want to be different? Promote different offers. Flycell has a nice Tom Brady jersey wallpaper for your cellphone and the Super Bowl is coming up.

Find a funny, cool Tom Brady video and watermark it with “Get Your Tom Brady Cell Phone Wallpaper at http://www.ispamyoutubeallday.com“.

January 30, 2008

Wow, what the heck did that fake website I typed in link to???

January 30, 2008

The word Youtube autolinks bro :)…Dont you worry about that one bit, Ruckles has it under control :)

January 30, 2008

LOL!!!

January 30, 2008

I knew it wouldn’t take long for a WSO:

http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=215767

January 31, 2008

Yea,

That dude usually makes quite a few reports over shit that is already being discussed. Another reason why I left that forum, it’s ebooky and you got people ripping other people off by selling shit already spoken.

I keep saying it hoping the masses will realize it.
I count 5 methods I explained here for nothing since December that people have turned around, packaged and sold.

Hilarious……………..and Pathetic.

January 31, 2008

Son of a bitch! I can’t believe that.

January 31, 2008

This is why I will never tell anyone what my best money maker is. I just jumped on this ringtone deal and it’ll be dead before I make a dime.

@tmc, tubemogul is cool but way too slow…maybe it’s a server issue coz everyone and their brother is doing this but i’m sitting here watching one vid load for the past 5 minutes.

February 1, 2008

Thanks for sharing

February 2, 2008
Mr Brain

The software you recommended put their own logo into the video making the video have 3 big logo and url, how should i prevent video converter and watermark factory from putting their logo into the video

February 2, 2008

Sure, this method will probably get killed for now, however, eventually I feel there will be a few diehards that will continue to promote this way and rake in the $$$.

Besides, what works for one does not always work for others, and many will not have the right technique to make a killing, figure it is too much work for too little money and give up on it anyways.

Oh yeah, and just don’t go for ringtones…there’s plenty of other niche markets that this method could be applied to as Ruck has already stated.

February 2, 2008

@ Mr Brain — I have registered versions and there is no logo of theirs in them.

February 2, 2008

@brain, yeah, you have to register to get rid of the logo.

@ruck, bro VPR is killing me….90 minutes and the vids were only 5% uploaded? what format are you saving them? mpg, avi…?? i can’t get this tactic to fly

@everyone…i love the blog but wouldn’t this be smokin’ if threads like this were running at ruck’s forum? let’s not forget over there!

February 4, 2008

Ruck.

I sent you an email, that I didn’t want to post openly. Could you give it a look, if you get some time.

thanks,

chillyd

February 4, 2008

Ruck what format are you coverting to with Total Video Converter. There are about 20 options with the paid version.

thanks,

Derek

February 4, 2008

I convert to MPEG. Might read this though, others feel differently:

http://cashtactics.net/11/29/make-money-and-build-traffic-with-video-marketing-using-these-methods/

And I responded to your email.

If you’re having problems with Video Watermark Factory continually crashing and have a dual core processor try setting the affinity to just one processor. (Alt+tab+del, then find VWF and right click it. Hit “Set Affinity” and turn tick off the second processor)

This has seemingly fixed my crashing problem.

Ruck,

I think I watched one of your videos on youtube and have a quick question.

In the video you talk about submitting articles to places like ezine and go articles, and that you use some ‘special tools’ to help them get high SERPS.

Care to share the name of these tools?

Thanks

March 3, 2008

1 sale @ $11 and I haven’t started working putting time on this. Thanks ruck for a great write up.

I have hit the wall at installing video watermark factory. It gives me a (MWF??) error when I start the program.

I have emailed them repeatedly but he not recieved a response. Anyone else have these issues?

What other program would anyone suggest that will accomplish the same task?

March 3, 2008

See coments by @V Said above or use VirtualdubMOD http://www.videohelp.com/tools/VirtualdubMOD

March 3, 2008
wse120372

Thanks much. I’ll give it a shot.

May 31, 2008

Nice step by step article. I am sure it can be done for alot of other things besides ringtones.

Thanks for the list of tools you use i like the fact you described them and how you use them. 5 stars for this post shows you how to do it and it works

October 12, 2008

I realize this is an old thread however it’s my first time reading it :)

“Start thinking outside the box on this too. You can upload movie pieces and trailers and promote a Blockbuster or Netflix offer”

I had a thought similar to that the other day it’s good to know I have some good ideas lol.

November 23, 2008
Alex

I know it’s late, but I am starting with ringtones now with RingtonePartner.com , might use these tips. Tnx!

September 27, 2009

I have no luck with this method lately. I believe it is saturated and users have caught on.

January 9, 2010
Jesse

Hey,

I’ve been thinking of doing this, but isn’t it… illegal? You know, the whole “copyright infringement” thing is a big deal. Couldn’t people get into MASSIVE trouble for doing this?

And I’m just talking about uploading the songs to YouTube, nevermind the torrent sites.

January 18, 2010

Jesse, there is always a risk, but worst case scenario your vid gets taken down by the DMCA no biggie.
