YouTorrent Takes The Cake!

Viva La Youtorrent! For all you torrent hoodlums you might be interested to know that I have checked this site out and downloaded an ~~illegal J/K,~~ AWESOME download there last night. Supposedly YouTorrent boasts over 150,000 searches in its first 3 days launch. You really need to check it out because it is by far my favorite torrent site now.

Youtorrent is working as a meta search engine that is retrieving its results from other sites such as Pirate Bay, Mininova, ISOHunt, and BtJunkie. It lists the torrents accordingly from most seeds and peers to least, ensuring faster download times for all users. Checking it out and taking a look at Tech Crunch’s story it was said that the site is on complete privacy and operating out of the Netherlands. Usually this is just a cover as most likely the owners are indeed in the US (who knows though). It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. As of right now though the site is rocking!

Just looking around a little more, according to TorrentFreak, Youtorrent searches 12 sources:

It currently searches 12 sources; Mininova, The Pirate Bay, IsoHunt, MyBittorrent, NewTorrents, SuprNova, Monova, Vuze, BitTorrent, LegitTorrents, SeedPeer and BTjunkie.

On a side note, while traveling my forum rounds yesterday there were people claiming that Rapidshare had been shutdown. Stop jumping to ridiculous conclusions if you dont know what your talking about. It makes you look stupid if you dont know the real story.

I don’t know much about the “marketing” aspects of torent sites, but I know many of them are hubs for illegal downloads. Several of my own products have been offered illegally on these trash sites.

I’m pretty sure you’re a good guy, Ruck. Hopefully you’re not supporting these things and leaving yourself open for prosecution like so many others.

There’s a ton of legal downloads in the torrent world. Youtorrent is a site trying to go to every extreme to make this possible. I was reading on ISOhunt awhile back where artists were debuting their music on torrent sites.

Most people look at them as trash sites because they only see the bad in them. Torrents and P2P can be used for all kinds of good things. Most of them are starting to clean up their act a bit more as far as copyright goes.

I’m not trying to justify what most torrent sites are primarily used for and I am not saying I am a saint because I’m not. But as laws crack down and the industries see the amount of traffic torrents sites can push, I truly believe we will see a change in the future on the quality of downloads their. I don’t think piracy will ever go away but that wont mean there aren’t some *family friendly* torrent sites out there.

I figured as much :) I’m sure there are still alot of users just trying to get something for free that they otherwise would have had to pay for though.

I’ll look into your posts to learn a little about the marketing aspects of it.
